St. John Christian Service Thanks You
My name is Sharon and I volunteer for St. John Christian Service. I have been working with this very rewarding ministry for about 10 years now. I want to share an experience I had this year with all of you.

When the website was being developed and e-mail accounts were being set up, Christian Service was approached about getting a presence on the website. At the time, I didn’t understand the potential benefit to our ministry and to the people we serve. I questioned the necessity of it, but now I’m so glad that we have it available to us. This technology recently helped St. John Christian Service and Outreach East make a big difference in a local family’s life.

On the Thursday before Christmas, Robin, the Parish Secretary routinely checked the church e-mail. There among the many “junk” e-mails, was a request from a young mother. Could someone please help keep her family from being evicted on Christmas Eve? “We hit a rough patch…we are truly in need of some type of miracle. We are not asking for anything for our 5 kids for Christmas, just to be able to keep a roof over their heads.” She went on to explain that her fiancé had been working full time, but his hours had been cut back. She, herself, had just started a full time job, but wouldn’t be getting a pay check for two weeks. Through no fault of their own, they were in a desperate situation.

Thanks to all of you, we were able to keep this family in their home, with food on the table and gifts for their 5 children. I feel so grateful that we were able do this. They were not on the Christmas Giving Tree, but we were still able to help them.

May God bless you all.
